Meet Laura Sutthoff, the designer and creator behind Laura Lane Designs.
For over twenty years, Laura has been creating beautiful fabrics. In the 90's, Laura's graphic-styled designs were silk screened onto linen, cotton, and silk and sold at art shows throughout the Eastern U.S. from New York City to Charleston, South Carolina. Following her passion for fabric design, Laura worked with many corporations developing her talents. Learning from other designers and how they work has inspired Laura to begin her line of fabrics.
Laura Lane Designs are original works inspired by Laura's daily photography. She sketches her observations into a journal, then transfers them onto paper to be painted or drawn in colored pencil. Once finalized, it's onto the computer for final colors and repeats. The Cicada Collection is one example. Every thirteen years during the warm months of summer in the South, Cicada Nymphs crawl out from under the earth. The unique sounds of the males calling on their mates are soothing in the evening breeze. It’s a homecoming of sorts, remembering parties and picnics outside. Seeing friends and family, dancing on the grass, and staying up late to hear stories of days gone by."
Welcome to The Textile District, Laura Lane Designs!
