Meet the Artist: Emily Ennulat-Lustine
Emily Ennulat-Lustine is the printmaker, painter, illustrator, and surface pattern designer behind Ennulat Designs. Her elegant fabrics reflect a lifelong fascination with flowers, gardens, natural texture, and the emotional connections people form with the landscapes around them.
Emily studied graphic design and painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art before discovering collagraph printmaking. For more than two decades, she has exhibited and sold original hand-pulled prints while continuing to explore encaustic painting, illustration, murals, textiles, wallcoverings, and functional art.
Nature’s intricate structures appear throughout her work. Hydrangeas, lilacs, weigela, cranesbill, mahonia, berries, leaves, branches, and garden shadows become richly detailed floral patterns, botanical silhouettes, soft plaids, and graceful directional coordinates.

Nature Informing Art, Informing Design
Emily’s fabric designs grow from the same close observation that guides her fine-art practice. Petal shapes, branching stems, patterned leaves, berries, seed heads, lichen, and changing garden color provide both subject matter and repeat structure.
Her collagraph experience gives the patterns a tactile visual quality. Layered silhouettes, softly textured forms, delicate linework, and variations in density help the designs retain the character of original artwork rather than appearing mechanically uniform.

Helen’s Joy: Floral Fabric Inspired by Memory and Home
Helen’s Joy was inspired by the historic garden surrounding Emily’s home, once known as Weslia, and by two women named Helen who found happiness and comfort among its flowers.
The property’s original trees, rhododendrons, lilacs, azaleas, hostas, weigela, and other established plants provided the collection’s visual foundation. The name also honors Emily’s mother, Helen, whose delight in rediscovering the flowers transformed ordinary walks, porch painting, puzzles, and family desserts into treasured moments.
Lilac Sunday, Lilac Slumber, Weigela Saturday, and Cranesbill Crush interpret recognizable garden flowers through layered botanical repeats. Cherry Dessert and Simple Stroll create more restrained leafy coordinates, while Porch Plaid and Puzzles & Paints introduce plaid and softly geometric contrast.
Misty blue, sage, natural, plum, violet, olive, golden yellow, burgundy, wine, and cinder violet give the collection a quiet, collected palette suited to romantic bedrooms, garden rooms, apparel, quilts, table linens, and relaxed interiors.

Weslia Garden, Emily’s first Textile District collection, was inspired by the remarkable residential gardens surrounding her historic neighborhood outside Philadelphia.
