Meet the Artist: Masha Litvinova
Masha Litvinova is a California-based surface pattern designer and illustrator known for painterly florals, expressive color, and conversational patterns created for fashion, interiors, packaging, and everyday products.
Masha grew up surrounded by creativity. Her mother designed and sewed her own clothing, filling their home with fabric, thread, fashion magazines, and the possibility of turning an idea into something useful and beautiful.
Before moving into illustration and surface design, Masha spent more than 20 years as a professional makeup artist. That experience developed her sensitivity to color relationships, balance, composition, fine detail, and the way carefully selected shades can change how something feels.
Color psychology remains central to her work. Masha believes that the right combination of color and pattern can influence mood, reflect personality, and add a welcome spark to an ordinary day.
Her Textile District catalog includes two coordinated floral collections: Cosy and Meadow. Every design is printed to order in the USA on your choice of 15+ base fabrics with a 1-yard minimum.
From Makeup Artistry to Surface Pattern Design
Masha’s previous career continues to influence how she approaches pattern. Makeup artistry requires an understanding of undertone, contrast, proportion, texture, focal points, and the emotional effect of color. Those same considerations appear throughout her textile collections.
Her florals range from loose, airy blossoms to fuller painterly bouquets and dense botanical arrangements. Softly irregular petals, winding stems, scattered flower clusters, and layered leaves give the patterns an illustrated quality without limiting them to one project style.
Masha works with both traditional and digital techniques. Hand-drawn character is preserved as the artwork becomes a clean repeating design suitable for apparel, quilting, curtains, bedding, pillows, table linens, bags, and decorative home accents.
Although florals are a defining part of her catalog, Masha also uses conversational and directional elements to create rhythm and contrast. Stripes, scattered marks, vines, and smaller botanical repeats make the collections easier to coordinate across a finished project.
Cosy: Painterly Florals in Warm and Moody Color
The Cosy collection explores the comforting side of floral pattern through rich botanical color, softened backgrounds, and painterly arrangements that feel warm, relaxed, and collected.
Rustlewood, Hazelyine, Emberly, Crimsomist, Bronzebloom, Bloomy, Autumnfield, and Amberrose range from open scattered blossoms to fuller floral fields and graceful botanical repeats.
The collection moves through cream, buttercream, sky, denim, indigo, moss, chocolate, hazelnut, apricot, peach, butterscotch, rust, magenta, blackberry, lavender, and peacock-inspired shades.
This broad palette allows Cosy fabrics to take several directions. Cream, sky, and softer blue colorways feel light and relaxed. Moss, chocolate, hazelnut, and rust create an earthy botanical mood. Magenta, indigo, blackberry, and peacock introduce stronger contrast for expressive apparel and interiors.
Cosy works especially well for autumn-inspired quilts, dresses, blouses, curtains, bedding, pillows, table linens, bags, and rooms that combine floral pattern with warm wood, natural fibers, and layered texture.
Meadow: Fresh Garden Florals and Cheerful Coordinates
Meadow captures the energy of a garden in bloom through trailing vines, scattered flowers, delicate buds, daisies, bell-shaped blossoms, and playful directional coordinates.
Verdalea, Sunnydew, Petaline, Meadowlyn, Breezebud, and Bellbloom provide the collection’s principal floral patterns. Dotty adds a lively dotted stripe, while Daisyland combines flowers with a more directional structure.
Airy sky blue, cloud, snow, ice, cream, and buttercream grounds are balanced by lime, periwinkle, lavender, fuchsia, orange, peach, golden yellow, green, navy, spice, and cherry-chocolate accents.
The collection is particularly versatile for spring and summer apparel, baby and nursery sewing, cheerful quilts, curtains, pillows, table linens, tote bags, reusable gift bags, and cottage-inspired interiors.

Project Inspiration for Masha Litvinova Fabrics
Floral Apparel and Accessories
Print Masha’s florals on lightweight cotton, cotton sateen, linen, stretch fabric, or another suitable apparel base for dresses, blouses, skirts, robes, shirts, scarves, and children’s clothing.
Open patterns such as Bloomy and Bellbloom create graceful movement across simple garments, while smaller blossoms and directional designs work well for fitted pieces, linings, pockets, cuffs, and accessories.
Quilts, Nursery Sewing, and Handmade Gifts
Choose Meadowlyn, Verdalea, Amberrose, Rustlewood, or another expressive floral as the feature fabric. Add smaller flowers, vines, stripes, or quieter colorways for blocks, borders, binding, backing, and coordinating accessories.
Meadow’s softer sky, pastel, buttercream, and floral colorways work naturally for baby quilts, nursery curtains, bedding, fabric baskets, blankets, and keepsake gifts.
Curtains, Pillows, and Relaxed Home Décor
Use a painterly floral for curtain panels, Roman shades, duvet accents, pillow shams, bench cushions, or an upholstered headboard. Repeat the palette through a smaller floral or directional coordinate on pillow backs, piping, lampshades, and table linens.
Cosy’s moss, indigo, chocolate, cream, and warm floral shades support layered autumnal interiors, while Meadow’s sky, green, lavender, and golden palettes create a lighter garden-inspired room.
