Decorating with Cabana Coastal Stripe Fabric

A stripe is an easy pattern to live with. It can sit beside a floral, bring order to a mix of prints or provide the only pattern a room needs.

Cabana Coastal takes our original Cabana stripe into a softer palette of misty blue, sea-glass tones, sage, seafoam, sand and pebble gray. The colors draw from the coast, but work just as well with antiques, painted furniture and warm wood as they do in a beach house.

The Roman shades shown here use a soft green combination to frame the windows. The stripe adds definition while leaving the view as the main attraction.

Choosing a Color for Your Room

If you like blue-and-white decorating, start with Mist Blue / Oyster White or Mist Blue / Shell White. Mist Blue / Pebble Gray offers less contrast, while the Sea Glass Blue combinations introduce a blue-green note. Linen Ivory gives that pairing warmth; Oyster White offers a lighter contrast.

Coastal Sage / Shell White works well with wood, woven furniture and natural textures. Seafoam Green / Linen Ivory is another soft option, while Seafoam Green / Sand Beige brings more warmth into the combination.

For a neutral room, consider the Pebble Gray colorways or Sand Beige / Shell White. They introduce a clear pattern without requiring blue or green elsewhere in the space.

Look at the colors beside the finishes you already have. The right stripe may pick up a shade in a rug, sit comfortably beside the sofa or connect painted furniture with the rest of the room.

Pairing Stripes with Other Prints

A stripe is a useful companion to a loose floral or leafy botanical because the patterns move differently. Choose one or two shared colors, then vary the scale rather than trying to match every detail.

For example, use Cabana Coastal on curtains with a larger floral on a pillow, or put the stripe on a bench cushion beneath a botanical shade. A smaller coordinate can work for piping, a lampshade or another detail.

Cabana Coastal’s medium scale suits curtains, Roman shades, pillows and table linens. On a window it creates a strong vertical rhythm; on a runner or napkin, its direction becomes part of the design.

The base fabric changes how the stripe feels. A linen blend brings texture to decorative curtains and cushions, while Cotton Sateen gives table linens and pillows a smoother surface. A lighter cotton can take the same print into a relaxed dress, pajamas or a robe.

Planning Cabana Coastal Roman Shades

Roman shades give a stripe a relatively flat surface when lowered, so placement is worth planning before you cut. Across neighboring windows, a consistent stripe position can help the shades look like a pair.

Start with your chosen shade hardware and its instructions. Measure each window separately and decide whether the shade will mount inside or outside the frame. The system determines the finished dimensions, fabric allowances, lining and assembly method.

• Check the printable width of your chosen base fabric against the required cutting width.
• Choose a stripe or stripe boundary as the center reference and mark the finished shade edges before cutting.
• For matching windows, use the same stripe position at the center of each shade.
• If the windows differ in width, compare the proposed layouts together before deciding how to position the stripes.
• Allow extra fabric across the width for centering; additional length alone cannot solve a shortage of cutting width.
• Follow the hardware instructions for suitable fabric weight, lining, finishing and installation.

Check stripe alignment against the planned finished edges, not just the raw cut edges. Side hems and other construction allowances can change which part of the pattern appears at each side.
